- Your computer can sometimes become slow due to many applications and corrupt files. You can perform diagnostic tests to ensure your PC is in good condition. If that fails, it’s time to back up all your important files and reset your computer to factory settings.
- This will delete all of your files, applications, and malware that were slowing down your computer. You can still keep your files and application if you wish to but I would suggest to remove all your applications completely if you wish for best results. However, I guarantee you that your computer will be as good as new after the factory reset.
- I myself was facing an issue coz of my slow PC and even my Windows Security was unable to open. So I decided to factory reset the computer. I took a backup of all my files and reset my computer back to factory settings. This worked well, and my computer is now as good as new.
Steps To Factory Reset Windows 11
Step 1: Press “Windows logo key +I” to open Settings.
Step 2: From the app list, you can also choose the Settings app. Click Update & Security under Settings.
Step 3: Click on Recovery and then select Reset PC under Reset Computer.
You may keep your files or completely wipe out all the files
There are two choices: Keep your files or wipe Everything and start over. You can also change additional settings with either of these options.
You will see two options when you click Reset PC. If you want to reset Windows to roll back an issue, choose to Keep my files first. If you want to delete your files completely, then Remove Everything is the best option.
Reinstall Windows( local reinstall or Cloud download)
You will then be asked which method you prefer to reinstall Windows. There are two options: cloud download or local reinstallation. Cloud download will automatically reinstall all the Windows files from Microsoft’s servers. Local reinstall will collect installation files from your local storage.
Cloud Download is the best choice because local installation files may be corrupted. Cloud download gets the latest installation files from the servers and reinstalls them. Cloud Download is also an alternative to using a USB stick for booting.
Additional Settings
Click on keep my files if you want to keep your files and restore your apps. You may also get your preinstalled apps. However if you want to prevent this from happening then you can click on choose settings and turn off the Reinstall from this device option.
Choose Remove Everything to remove all the files and applications from your hard disk. You can toggle on Clean data to clean the drive completely but it make it harder for files to recover. So, make sure to backup all your important files to before you proceed. However if you are done then click on Confirm.
Reset Your Computer
Next, Windows will show Resetting will/summery, you must check it and then move further. Also, if you have selected Keep my files then Windows will show all the applications that will be deleted from your PC.
Click Reset to commit. After a few minutes, your computer will reboot and will start up again. You can restore files to your machine if you have backed them up.
You will eventually install all the applications that were wiped out, your PC will eventually use more of computing power to run those application and Windows 11 itself is loaded will a lot of applications and features which adds up and puts a heavy load in your hard disk and eventually makes you PC slow. So, I would rather suggest you to use SSD to make your PC run faster.
However, Resetting will make your PC relatively much more faster and remove all the viruses and malwares that were residing in your PC.
